• Just had a client contact me saying her website is down. We get the following error message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: stripos() in /home/WP-LC/wp-lc.php on line 2

Is this a hack or something else? Can’t find any documentation using the search terms.

  • There is no file called wp-lc.php in WordPress itself. I’m sorry but it sounds like that site may have been hacked.

For anyone who wants to know, that was NOT a hacking issue. I was wondering if it wasn’t the case, since I found no indications of hacking within WordPress files or the database itself.

If you receive a similar fatal error, your PHP version is not the most updated one (probably Version 4).

While I did backup all previous WP files via FTP (kept the database but also backed it up), and then obliterated the entire old WordPress installation BEFORE I found this out, it probably wasn’t actually necessary. However, the client WAS using an old version of WordPress, which is now updated (obviously good).

Just thought I should provide an update for other users.

    I’m getting the same error

(Fatal error: Call to undefined function: stripos() in /home/WP-LC/wp-lc.php on line 5)

after clicking the link from my Softaculous email to sign in as admin. My current php version is 5.3.24 in cpanel. I think that’s the newest one?

I’m just starting out, trying to learn wordpress, but I can’t even get to where I can sign in because of this error. I really don’t know what I’m looking for error-wise, so some direction would be greatly appreciated!

I even uninstalled and re-installed (a week apart) and waited the 4 hours for it all to gel…..as I heard it’s not immediately available. No go. Please help! Thanks in advance!
