Best theme for static website (not blog)?? (5 posts)

    Hi fellows,

The topic title says it all - don't need the blog functionality.

Need a very simple theme for my new website (e-book promoting site - you know, the typical simple white narrow page for text and pictures). Would be nice if it was easy to turn sidebar on/off - don't need a sidebar for the "Terms of use", "About", "FAQ" etc. pages but probably on the main.

Found this theme "The Simple CMS WordPress Theme" http://pixopoint.com/products/simple-cms-theme-update but I don't know if it is up to date - would that be a problem? (SEO, security etc....)

There must be a lot of other solutions for people who want to use WordPress as a static website (CMS) - I just can't find them! Please help. I would prefer free themes but I will pay for it if you know of a perfect solution.

Hope you can help me - Thanks and have a nice day!

Here are some good free themes that aren't exclusively for blogs:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/titan

I usually just end up taking out the comment functionality, the tags, etc. that make it look like a blog, and it works fine.

They actually look very clean and simple but they still got the sidebar and blog functionality, not sure I know how to remove that. But I might want to use them for some of my other sites...

I just found something that might work, although I searched for this for some time... hmmm... going to test it tomorrow. Thanks for your time.

If you don't mind getting into your code, you could always modify your theme to not include the sidebar as well.

MicDK: Do you mind sharing what you found that might work? I'm trying to do the exact same thing and having problems.

Micah: Do you have any tips on removing the sidebar/comments completely? Link to a good walk-through? I've tried to find these, but most are very vague or way too technical for me.
